Online awareness training that teaches field crews how hazardous energy is controlled, what authorized, affected, and other employees must do, and how LOTO applies on telecom sites.
By: Vertical Academy | Format: Online, self-paced | Language: English | Last Updated: 10/28/26
Description
This course is based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, The Control of Hazardous Energy (general industry), and 29 CFR 1926.417, Lockout and Tagging of Circuits (construction). It explains the energy control program, written procedures, the application and release sequences, and special situations, with examples from telecom and construction sites.
The course is intended for tower technicians, climbers, riggers, installers, equipment-shelter and rooftop technicians, construction crews, and field supervisors who service, install, or work around equipment that can be energized, started, or release stored energy. It is awareness and knowledge training. It does not replace your employer’s energy control program, machine-specific procedures, or hands-on training. Under OSHA rules, the employer trains, authorizes, and certifies employees who perform lockout/tagout.
Learners who complete all lessons and pass the final exam receive a Vertical Academy completion certificate with a unique certificate number and QR code verification.

This is a Vertical Academy completion certificate. It does not authorize the holder to perform lockout/tagout and is not an OSHA certification. Employers must train, authorize, and certify employees on their own energy control program.
