By: Vertical Academy | Format: Online, self-paced | Certification validity: 1 year | Language: English | Last Updated: 10/28/26

Description

This course is based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157, Portable Fire Extinguishers, which calls for an educational program on the general principles of extinguisher use and the hazards of incipient-stage firefighting, upon initial employment and at least annually where extinguishers are provided for employee use. It also covers construction-site fire protection under 29 CFR 1926.150 and fire prevention during welding, cutting, and hot work under 29 CFR 1926.352.

The course is intended for telecom and construction field workers, tower crews, installers, hot-work crews and fire watches, equipment-shelter technicians, service vehicle drivers, and supervisors. It does not include hands-on, live-fire practice. Workers designated to fight fires under an emergency action plan need additional training from their employer on the equipment they will use. Always follow your employer’s emergency action plan.

Learners who complete all lessons and pass the final exam receive a Vertical Academy completion certificate with a unique certificate number and QR code verification.
